New Driveway Paving

A paved driveway adds value to any home. When properly installed, an asphalt driveway adds curb appeal giving visitors and passersby an impression of a well-kept home. Asphalt paving provides a more durable surface that is economical and will last years when properly maintained.

We begin the process by:

  • Excavating and grading or leveling the ground for proper drainage
  • We lay a foundation consisting of crushed stone or stone pac
  • We apply a quality mixture of hot bituminous asphalt and compact into place
  • Types of Residential Asphalt Paving Services:
  • New Asphalt Driveways
  • Replacement Driveways
  • Driveway Resurfacing

Sealcoating & Maintenance

The lifespan of your new asphalt driveway can vary based on traffic and weather conditions. However, with proper maintenance your driveway can last up to 20 years. Applying sealcoating every 2-3 years can also increase the life of your asphalt pavement. Sealcoat is a preventative measure against deterioration, and it helps revive the look and curb appeal of older surfaces. Patch repairs are a cost-effective way of eliminating further damage and liability to pavement. In addition, we also offer pothole and crack repair.

Proper care and info for new asphalt:

  • Asphalt pavement contains “Liquid Asphalt” which is the black, tar-like substance that holds the pavement together. These liquid needs time to harden and cure. Your new asphalt could take up to a year to fully cure. Even when fully cured, asphalt pavement can sometimes soften in extreme heat, or harden faster as temperatures drop. To temporarily harden the pavement, you can water down the surface with a garden hose. If soapsuds appear, don’t be worried. This is a reaction between the chlorine in the water and the asphalt.
  • Keep vehicle(s) off new asphalt for at least 72 hours or more depending on temperature.
  • Avoid driving off the edges of your driveway, this will cause it to crack and crumble due to lack of side support. You may support the sides by backfilling the sides with soil.
  • Keep motorcycle and bicycle stands, boat jacks and other sharp objects off the surface.
  • On a hot and sunny day, the sun can easily heat the asphalt back up making it soft and pliable again, therefore caution should be taken when making tight or sharp turns on it. If you wind up causing tire tracking there’s not a lot you can do to fix it. Unfortunately, only time and a little oxidization will make these disappear. Power steering divots are caused by turning your steering wheel while your vehicle is setting in place. This can cause damage to your new asphalt especially on a very hot summer day. If turning around in your driveway is necessary, always try and keep the vehicle moving while you’re turning; moving forward and backwards until you’re turned around.
  • If you have any campers, boats or trailers, and you need to store them on your new asphalt, it’s a good idea to place some plywood underneath each tire in order to spread the weight more evenly to keep small divots or low spots from forming in the asphalt. These divots or swales are irreparable without causing even more problems surrounding them. The way these are formed is by any combination of several things like the wind blowing, climbing in and out of the boat, climbing in and out of the trailer or camper… this vibrating or moving the vehicle back and forth and wiggles the asphalt back and forth under the tires and eventually causes that low spot in the asphalt. To remedy this, place some (3/4”) plywood underneath each tire. Generally, you want to about 2 feet on each side of your tires and of course, a couple of feet in length past the front of the back tires. This will distribute the weight more evenly over a larger area and eliminate that potential problem.
  • Your asphalt may look smoother in some areas than in others because of its makeup. Asphalt is composed of various sizes of stone, sand, liquid asphalt and other ingredients which cause a varied texture of the surface. Also, asphalt areas that have been raked and spread with hand tools may appear different in texture from those spread by machine.
  • Sealcoating your asphalt will increase the life and appearance of your driveway. Sealcoating your asphalt will lock in the existing oils to keep the asphalt flexible, which reduces cracking. We recommend that you seal coat your driveway 6 months to 1 year after install and every 2-3 years after that

Seal Coating

Seal Coating can save you thousands and protect your valuable parking lots and pavement investments.

Milling & Reclamation

Asphalt milling does share a lot of the benefits that asphalt reclaiming/pulverizing does, but there is one downside. Asphalt milling is only effective when the asphalt failures throughout your parking lot are not that bad. Since you are only scraping away the top 2″ of asphalt, you are not really correcting any problems with the base, but if your parking lot isn’t in too bad of shape, then chances are your base is okay.

Some of the benefits of milling are:

  • It saves money. Milling is one of the more cost-effective ways of paving reconstruction.
  • It is environmentally friendly. The milled asphalt is recycled to make new asphalt. Although milling is not as ecofriendly as reclaiming/pulverizing.
  • Speed. Aside from resurfacing your lot, milling is the quickest solution to asphalt reconstruction.

Reclaiming significantly reduces haul away and excavation costs.  We can transform your cracked or failed parking area into a reusable bituminous base that will provide added strength to your new asphalt construction.

Concrete & Curbing

Entry to your building or facility depends greatly on the access from your parking lot.  Concrete ramps must be built to code (ADA and other requirements) as well as neatly match with the existing walkway and asphalt surface. We also offer ramp services such as installation of indicator panels and paint markings.

Curbing is used to differentiate parking areas from roadways, sidewalks, landscaping, and to control the flow of water from the parking area to the storm drain systems. Our crews are well-trained to handle any size curbing installation or curbing removal and replacement project.

An important aspect of any parking lot or roadway is the drainage system and the accompanying drainage structures, like the catch basin above. Structures that do not function properly or the surrounding surface that does not allow water to flow properly, invite serious liability issues as well as expediting deterioration of the asphalt.

For new construction projects, our drainage crews are well-versed in the design and installation of efficient drainage systems and the associated surface grades necessary to ensure proper functioning.

In order to maintain the integrity of the drains and drainage system, structures and drainage lines may need to be cleaned. This will accomplish the necessary removal of sediment, debris, and other blockages from your existing system and ensuring proper drainage.
